Requirements for edit and explore modes
As Salient Management continues to develop and release Salient Dashboards, we strive to create a single, comprehensive application that can be used across multiple platforms. Salient Dashboards performs well on most modern desktop browsers and on iPad®. Due to the wide variety of available browsers, performance may vary between browsers and users may encounter minor display differences. Please report any issues to Salient Support.
Tested desktop browsers:
Microsoft Windows®
- Google Chrome™
- Firefox®
- Microsoft Edge®
Apple Macintosh®
- Safari®
iPad:
Salient recommends using iOS 9 or higher. Edit mode is not fully touch-enabled. If you experience problems with touch-activated actions, refer to the following section "Tips for using browser-based dashboards on touch-based devices."
Requirements for view mode
Salient Dashboards view mode performs well on iPad, the desktop browsers listed above, and Android tablets. View mode has been tested on Chrome for Android and Safari for iOS. View mode should work on any modern device with a WebKit-based browser, such as smartphones and modern tablets.
Browser-based dashboards are not fully touch-enabled. If you experience problems with touch-activated actions, refer to the following section "Tips for using browser-based dashboards on touch-based devices."
Additional requirements for browser-based dashboards
Intranet or Internet access to the web server.
Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled.
Pop-up blocking should be selectively disabled for the Salient Dashboards web page.
The browser should be at 100% zoom.
A screen size of 7 inches or larger is recommended.
Tips for using browser-based dashboards on touch-based devices
A click event has priority over drag event for elements that allow both (such as the 1st By dimension).
To focus on a different member in a graph, tap on the member.
To view a tooltip on a graph, tap and hold for two to three seconds on the item.
To scroll through a menu, touch the blank space next to the text as opposed to the text itself.
You cannot upload files for Knowledge Manager or Image Manager using iPad. We recommend switching to a desktop browser for file uploads.
Resize a widget by modifying its settings rather than clicking and dragging its edges.
Mobile app requirements
The Salient Dashboards mobile app is touch-enabled and optimized for viewing dashboards on mobile devices. The mobile app is downloaded and installed separately. We recommend running the mobile app on android (v 5+) or Apple® (9+) operating systems. See the document Setting Up Mobile Dashboards for more information.
Known issues
Users may encounter performance issues on browsers and devices older than the versions listed in this document.
Edit mode may not display correctly if accessed via Remote Desktop.
The Search bar in online help does not display correctly in old versions of iPad/iPhone.
You cannot upload files for Knowledge Manager or Image Manager using iPad.
When using Firefox, we do not recommend using iframes in content widgets.
Web server requirements
The Salient Dashboards web server application has its own requirements, including additional licensing, as discussed in the Salient Dashboards Installation and Configuration Manual.
